HOW IT STARTED

Recognizing that traditional toy packaging contributes significantly to environmental waste, I set out to challenge the norm and how toys are presented.

The toy industry has long grappled with the issue of packaging waste. Traditional toy packaging often ends up as clutter in landfills, with little thought given to how it could be reused or repurposed. This wastefulness not only harms the environment but also misses an opportunity to enhance the play experience. Recognizing this challenge, I aimed to redesign Barbie’s packaging to address these environmental concerns. My mission was to transform the traditional toy box into an engaging part of the play experience, rather than just a vessel for the toy.

WHAT I MADE

Reimagined the box as an integral part of the play experience, merging creativity with sustainability.

The innovative design features a transformable ice skating rink with a functional locker that can be pulled out for added fun. This approach not only reduces waste by giving the packaging a second life as part of the play environment but also creates a deeper connection between children and their toys.
